EB:EW, Nautical

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Of course I'm taking part in this EB:EW- Nautical = Stripes = half my wardrobe. I can't wait to see what everyone does with this prompt.

I very purposefully kept it toned down so as not to get too overzealous and go to work in a bad costume. And preppy is a lovely style, but I didn't want to look like I should be at the helm of a yacht circa 1990, complete with cotton striped tee, high-waisted khaki walking shorts, braided leather belt, sweater draped over the shoulders, and a chin-length bob with feathered bangs.

You can totally see her, can't you?

Instead, the stipes are a subtle underlayer, ocean turquoise in the belt and a nautical charm bracelet. I'mma guess this is a more work-appropriate version of the trend.

EB:EW Valentine's Edition

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

I'll be honest about this- My Guy and I don't do Valentine's Day. But that doesn't negate the fun of a holiday filled with hearts, chocolate, red and pink and (my personal favorite) Red Hot Hearts. Yum. So, even though there will be no special meal or lovey-dovey celebration in our household (I may not even see him tonight if he decides to stay at school and work on his music), I choose to wear festive attire. Ka-pow, cupid. And Everybody:Everywear link ups are aaaalways fun! Click the button below and check out the other submissions- I know there will be some girls knocking it out of the park.

B&W Fair Isle

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

This funny little number was a good find at the thrift store several weeks ago. With specifically the baptism we attended for our godson during our week back to Ohio in mind, I wanted a little sweater that was cute, cozy and something that danced right on the line between casual and put-together. I won, big time. It is a cropped swing style, probably wool (but all the tags are nipped out- I'm guessing the previous owner found it too itchy) with a great small fair isle pattern. After the massive rainstorm yesterday, I figured I would wear something comfortable since the temperature dropped significantly overnight. So, here I am, in this wonderfully goofy little sweater.

And, of course, I'm linkin' up with this month's EB:EW! Black and white are right up my alley. Well, grey is more my thing, but this is a pretty significant go-to, as well. I'm looking forward to wasting mucho time tomorrow morning looking through everyone's posts!

Cableknit and Perks

Today, it got COLD. I was so chilled and crabby when I took the dog out this morning, I huffed back into bed, snuggled waaaay past my get-up-and-get-going timeline and vowed to wear something warm and fluffy. Thank goodness I decided to tuck and belt the sweater, this could have wound up really puffy and shapeless if I wasn't careful. Layers'll do that. The chill in the air did, however, give me the opportunity to take part in the EB:EW colored tights challenge. I love the other looks that are already posted!

Aaand look what I was pumped about trying out again. The brown booties. Crap, I'm in trouble. And one other note- this is the skirt that was up for debate waaaay back in this post. I think I made the right decision in bucking up the moolah, the repair at the base of the zipper was easy, the fit is superb, the color is the perfect grey.

Day 10 of 30 Days Hath November- My job is many things. It's a little scattered, a little crazy, a little needy, but I have been given amazing access to well known artists, curators, philanthropists, academics. I am the voice of this household. I am surrounded by beauty and creativity. For as exhausting as a lot of elements of this job can be, I understand and fully appreciate who I have been given inside access to. There is really no reason that I should have had the opportunity to speak over the phone to the director of MOMA. But I have. And that's pretty cool.

So, a snapshot of a few of the pieces of art in boss lady's home that I get to admire every day.

I forgot yesterday was the Colored Pants Everybody:Everywear... I'm a day late, I suppose.

Here are the two other documented ways I've worn them before... I think I'm fond of the one with the mustard cardigan best, but I don't think I've gotten it quite right yet.

THE BIG DILEMMA OF THE WEEK::::::::
My Guy is hosting his second Doctorate of Musical Arts Recital on Saturday. What should I wear??? I don't want to do boring black on black, but I don't want to go too casual, either. HELP!
